An Oil for Universal UseSchwäbisch Hall, March 2011It is really important to regularly top up with the correct lubricant to ensure the perfect functioning of a vehicle´s air-conditioning system. Lower value or incorrect oil can cause increased wear on the engine, the premature failure of the compressor and the loss of warranty/guarantee. Up until now, different air-conditioning compressors have also needed different oils. With PAO 68 oil, thermal management expert, Behr Hella Service, is offering a universal oil that is suitable for virtually all scenarios and means the workshop does not have to stock various different oils: As the high-quality multi-use synthetic oil is suitable for virtually all air-conditioning systems, whether it concerns standard vehicles, CVs, agricultural machinery or construction machinery. Moreover, the PAO oil is compatible with lots of other lubricants and refrigerants and therefore suitable for either topping up or even replacing the entire quantity of oil in the system. It also doesn´t have any harmful effects on fluoroelastomer materials like hoses or seals. As PAO 68 Plus UV, the oil also available with a contrast medium for leak detection purposes. It is therefore possible to lubricate the compressor and perform a leak detection in just one easy step; saving time and costs during the air-conditioning service. Just 10 percent of the total quantity of oil in the system is all that is needed for a successful leak detection. PAO 68 Plus UV oil can also be used as the main oil for filling up the entire quantity of oil in the system. The oil does not lose any efficiency.
The PAO oil from Behr Hella Service is not hygroscopic. It does not absorb moisture from the ambient air, minimises moisture problems, like, for example, the icing of components or the forming of acids, and can be stored for a long period of time after opening. Compared with other oils, its perfect lubrication properties and reduced coefficient of friction provides the air-conditioning system with greater cooling performance and lower energy consumption. PAO oil functions reliably at operating temperatures between minus 68 degrees Celsius and plus 315 degrees Celsius. The molecules of this multi-use synthetic oil stick to all the metallic surfaces in the air-conditioning system. They displace all other substances which would otherwise be found on the surface (e.g. dirt, carbon and other oil) and prevent further foreign matter from sticking to the surfaces. Therefore, by contrast with numerous other oils, there is no danger of the oil collecting in the evaporator and reducing cooling performance.
